My Story: Pain to Purpose
Ever since I was young, I've always had a deep love and connection to the natural world. I was fortunate to grow up with a 1-acre woodland property that also backed up against 250 acres of intact woods. This land truly was my childhood home, and in these lands is where I developed my passion, respect, and deeper understanding of this Earth and our native ecosystems.
My love for this planet only continued to grow stronger and as I grew older. But in time, I also had to confront the heavy ecological reality of this planet. Native ecosystems across the Earth were collapsing, biodiversity was declining, and our planet was severely out of balance. I started to understand just how disconnected we had become from the living world.
The Turning Point
This hard truth hit me much deeper as I learned the very important 250 acres of woods I grew up learning from was now set to be completely destroyed for a housing development.
To witness the loss of these woods was deeply painful, but in that grief, a strong, meaningful purpose was born.
Seven years ago, I decided to dedicate the 1-acre woodland on our property to create a refuge for the wildlife that was losing its home.
The goal was to create the most biodiverse native ecosystem I could. It took years of hard work that consisted of removing invasive species, planting thousands of native plants, and converting a lot of lawn to habitat.
To witness the loss of these woods was deeply painful, but in that grief, a strong, meaningful purpose was born.
Healing Land, Healing Hearts
The journey to restore my 1 acre preserve inspired my heart deeply. Watching this ecosystem heal and come back to life also healed something within me. This process is where I truly understood the positive impacts we can make on the local ecosystem in our own yards by planting native and caring to coexist with the local wildlife.
Through this work, I also realized a deeper truth: as much as our ecosystems need healing and proper stewarding, the human spirit also needs restoring, too.
Somewhere along the way as a society, we lost our deep love and connection for this Earth. My mission was truly born in this realization. I knew I wanted to inspire people to care deeply for the natural world, to respect and value our native ecosystems, to view our landscapes and yards through the eyes of our pollinators or birds.
I believe we are living truly in one of the most important moments in human history. Moving forward, we must restore our relationship with this Earth. We have to have a deep love and respect for our native ecosystems. Remember, we are nature, and we must work to unite in love for this Earth together.
How My Mission Unfolds
My goal is simple:
Inspiration: By sharing my heart and message through my videos and photography, I hope to educate and inspire people to care deeply for this planet and want to coexist with their local ecosystem in their own yards.
Native Abundance: By working directly with homeowners to educate them and also restore their land by planting native gardens and removing invasive species.
Pine Truth: Continuing to restore my 10 acres of land and also create a very powerful space for people to dive deep into the natural world. I want to host them out on my land for retreats and help them to remember their true nature.
Land Preservation: I want to continue to aquire land so that I may preserve, restore, and protect it forever.
"My 1-Acre preserve showed me what is possible when you deeply care for the native ecosystem."
The Journey Ahead
Many of us carry the same hope for a restored biodiverse world. Together, we can make it a reality.
This is how my mission began, but the work is just getting started.
